PROJECT

Kapalama Container Terminal

Our team is providing program management support to The Pasha Group, Pasha Stevedoring and Terminals/Hawaii Stevedores Inc. (HSI) on the Kapalama Container Terminal (KCT).

KCT will alleviate congested conditions for the state's transpacific cargo shipping companies, Pasha Hawaii and Matson Inc., and accommodate projected cargo growth for the state for many years to come. The new terminal will have on-dock ship-to-barge capability, incorporate state-of-the-art technologies and spearhead implementation of improved environmental practices.

The state’s $300 million phase two portion of the project will add 1,800 linear feet of new pier space — which is enough capacity for two container ships to dock simultaneously — and incorporate five all-electric ship-to-shore cranes. Also included are heavy lift area pads for roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) and breakbulk/project cargo pier space with a total increase of 84 acres of new cargo operating area for the state of Hawaii. HSI has constructed a new administration facility, two new maintenance and repair facilities, and a marine operations tower to support its cargo handling and transport business.

Hawaiian Electric Co. will also install a new 46-kV Auiki Substation to provide power at KCT and surrounding areas, to include the anticipated Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation project.
