We worked with the City of Tishomingo and community stakeholders to develop a new water treatment plant at an existing plant site. The new plant brings the operation into compliance with Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) regulations and provides additional capacity for community growth, while also improving water quality, system reliability and employee conditions.
Our team evaluated the existing facilities, including on-site and off-site bench-scale testing of multiple treatment alternatives, to develop a plan to rehabilitate existing facilities and build the appropriate new infrastructure to keep producing water for the city and its neighboring communities.
We completed design and construction phase services to rehabilitate the existing dual media gravity filters with sand and granular activated carbon (GAC) while also working with ODEQ to address the plant’s Notice of Violation with a Corrective Action Plan.
The project was partially executed as collaborative delivery, but the city elected to convert to traditional delivery to tap into additional external funding sources. The new plant is complete and is now the city’s primary source of potable water.
The design team worked creatively to keep costs low while delivering a plant that will serve for decades to come. The project was funded jointly by contributions from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development, the City of Tishomingo and the Chickasaw Nation.
