BREA, California — Burns & McDonnell, a 100% employee-owned engineering, architecture and construction firm, has announced that Shane Flanagan will lead its Life Sciences & Technology team in California as Consumer Products & Life Sciences Construction Department Manager.

In this role, Flanagan will focus on building high-performing teams, strengthening client partnerships and delivering high-quality solutions that address the evolving needs of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, animal health and medical device clients. He will support projects throughout their life cycles, from early capital planning and site assessments through design, construction, commissioning and startup. Working alongside the firm’s integrated planning, architecture, engineering and construction professionals, he will help bring construction insight into projects from the outset.

Flanagan’s focus will include scalable, high-tech facilities designed to meet current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) requirements while balancing quality, cost, speed, technical complexity and regulatory compliance. His team will support clients as they modernize manufacturing facilities, expand existing operations and develop new greenfield projects.

As a single-source design and construction partner, Burns & McDonnell integrates technical engineering, cost controls and constructability considerations to develop facilities that align with each client’s manufacturing processes, budget and schedule requirements.

Flanagan brings 15 years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams across pharmaceutical, biotechnology and advanced manufacturing programs, delivering results in safety, cost, schedule quality and client satisfaction.
