PROJECT

Town Pavilion Renovation

Our team transformed the entry experience for visitors to one of the dominant high-rise office buildings in downtown Kansas City, Missouri — the iconic Town Pavilion skyscraper.

Major improvements to the 38-story building’s common area included a complete renovation of the building’s entry main rotunda, first-level lobby and common areas.

The upgrades to the rotunda allowed for the addition of a concierge center, retail storefront upgrades, installation of art-driven video walls and museum-like artwork.

New grand wood and steel staircases were installed at the smaller rotundas to replace the existing escalators. The addition of the staircases allows for a refreshed interaction with the space and introduced new seating options for visitors.

“New edges, forms and shapes … sweep through the first floor of the Town Pavilion, announcing that something new has arrived with a cohesive simplicity that unites from space to space, north to south, Main Street to Walnut.”

Trevor Hoiland

Lead Designer, Burns & McDonnell

The new finishes are attuned to a modern office setting — incorporating a sculptural, grand central staircase, bright white walls complementing natural wood tones, and subtle, varied lighting — that elevates the building beyond current Class A office standards.
