PROJECT

Two-Phase EPC BESS Site

We are the engineer-procure-construct (EPC) contractor for McGrau Ford Phase I battery energy storage system (BESS), which is a 265-MW storage site using lithium iron phosphate Tesla Megapack 2 XL batteries charged by the grid.

We also are the EPC contractor for the Phase II project on the site, which will include a second 265-MW four-hour duration BESS. Given the existing site work, land acquisition and contracting for Phase I, Georgia Power will realize efficiencies in contracting and construction for Phase II.

Additionally, preliminary design for Phase I allows the utility to cost-effectively expand the project-level substation and generation tie line, rather than construct a new project-level substation. MGM Transformers supplied 898,572-kVA of transformers.
