Burns & McDonnell Names Allen Xi General Manager of the Southcentral Region

HOUSTON — Allen Xi, senior vice president, has been promoted to general manager for Burns & McDonnell in Houston, Texas. In this role, Xi will lead a workforce of more than 800 professionals in the Southcentral region, who provide engineering, procurement, construction and consulting services to clients in a wide variety of industries. He succeeds Leslie Duke, who was recently announced as CEO-elect for the firm.

Since joining Burns & McDonnell in 2000, Xi has worked primarily with clients in the power transmission and distribution sector, taking on roles of increasing responsibility. Most recently, he served as senior vice president responsible for the Southcentral region’s Transmission & Distribution and Environmental groups of Burns & McDonnell, as well as the regional section of 1898 & Co., the business and technology consultancy that is part of Burns & McDonnell.

Xi supported and served as a committee member of Boy Scouts Troop 1288 for almost 10 years and currently volunteers his time supporting the Montgomery County Community Assistance Center (CAC), which provides resources to meet basic needs and improve the quality of life for those in Montgomery County.

Xi holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wuhan in Wuhan, China; a master’s degree in electrical engineering from EPRI China in Beijing, China; and an MBA from the University of Kansas. He is a registered professional engineer (PE) in Texas and Kansas.
