WALLINGFORD, Connecticut — Burns & McDonnell, a 100% employee-owned engineering, architecture and construction firm, has named Jason Cabral as general manager for its Northeast Region, which includes offices in Portland, Maine; Boston; Wallingford, Connecticut; New York City; Philadelphia; and Morristown, New Jersey. Cabral succeeds Jerry Fan, who will fully transition to serve as executive vice president and general manager of the Americas North Region.
Cabral joined Burns & McDonnell in 2006 as a project manager for high-profile transmission projects in the Northeast, helping major utilities provide safer, more reliable energy to millions of customers. Over the years, his experience and leadership have been instrumental in advancing the firm’s growth and client partnerships, including during his leadership of the region’s Transmission & Distribution Group.
In 2023, Cabral was named manager for the regional Construction Group and, in 2024, he was promoted to vice president of Northeast operations — a trajectory that underscores his continued impact and influence across the business.
“Jason is a proven leader who has played an integral role in strengthening our client relationships and expanding our footprint in the Northeast,” Fan says, executive vice president and general manager of the Americas North Region. “He has been an outstanding partner to our clients and a champion for our employee-owners, and I am excited to see how he will continue to drive growth and success in this next chapter.”
In his new role, Cabral will continue building on the Northeast team’s history of delivering innovative solutions for clients. He will place a strong emphasis on further strengthening partnerships and leading strategic initiatives across industries including aviation, manufacturing (food and consumer products, life sciences, and consumer products), power delivery, mission critical and renewable generation.
Drawing on the full breadth of the region’s engineering, construction and environmental capabilities, he is focused on helping clients address their most complex infrastructure challenges. Cabral also expressed enthusiasm for the opportunities ahead and recognized the promotion of Jacob Blanton to Northeast operations director.
“I am honored to step into this role and build on the strong foundation that has been built in the Northeast,” Cabral says. “It is a privilege to lead such a talented and dedicated team as we continue delivering innovative, client-focused solutions across industries. I’m equally excited to partner with Jacob in his new role, where his collaborative approach and commitment to our people will help us write the next chapter of growth for the region.”
Blanton, who has contributed to the firm’s success in Houston and Dallas, has been instrumental in driving growth and fostering a culture of excellence in the Northeast for the past six years, most recently serving as vice president and regional manager for the Transmission & Distribution Group.
