MADISON, Wisconsin — Burns & McDonnell has named Jason Schmid as manager of the firm’s Global Facilities Group in the Great Lakes Region, which includes offices in Chicago; Downers Grove, Illinois; Lexington, Kentucky; Southfield, Michigan, and Madison, Wisconsin. Schmid brings more than two decades of experience in manufacturing, engineering and construction, with a focus on food and beverage and process-intensive industries.

With a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering and an MBA, Schmid began his career in operations with a major North American food and beverage company before moving into leadership roles within the confectionery manufacturing sector. He led the startup of a new production facility in less than a year and went on to build and scale an internal engineering organization that supported significant operational and geographic growth.

Since joining Burns & McDonnell in 2021, Schmid has served as a business development leader and project manager within the Global Facilities group, later becoming the Food & Beverage business line manager in the Great Lakes Region. In that role, he has led both project execution and client development efforts, supporting major manufacturing and processing clients and delivering large-scale capital projects, including one of the nation’s largest carbon capture systems. In 2025, he became an EPC Certified Project Manager (PM).

“Jason brings a diverse background across engineering, research and development, and sales within the food manufacturing industry,” says Tim Faber, vice president and general manager of Great Lakes Region. “That experience, combined with his work delivering architecture, engineering and construction solutions for major food producers, positions him well to lead our Global Facilities practice. He has also demonstrated a strong ability to build teams and support their growth, contributing to meaningful outcomes for both our people and our clients.”

Schmid will lead strategy and growth for Global Facilities across the Great Lakes Region, supporting multiple business lines, including mission critical, consumer products, aerospace and industrial, and life sciences.
