880-MWdc Solar Program

Project Summary

Our team is providing fully integrated engineer-procure-construct (EPC) services for nine utility-scale solar projects. This includes conceptual and detailed electrical, civil and structural design performed in-house for the photovoltaic (PV), substation, generation tie-in and interconnection scopes. The solar program consists of more than 1.5 million PV modules, over 3,000 miles of electrical cable and over 5,000 acres of total site area.

The nine PV power plants generate between 60 MWdc and 195 MWdc, for a total of 880 MWdc across Wisconsin over a three-year program. Each plant will utilize 540-watt bifacial monocrystalline modules in conjunction with single-axis tracking systems.

We are self-performing pile driving, equipment installation and electrical through our union construction subsidiary, AZCO. Portions of the civil construction and electrical installation will be subcontracted.

Notable project highlights:

  • Open-book EPC approach that allows for incorporation of owner preferences.
  • Coordination between our permitting and design team to efficiently obtain state and local permits and construct according to permit conditions.
  • Optimization of construction timelines to protect species of special concern and their habitats.
  • Collaboration with the owner and surrounding communities to sustainably harvest trees across the program.
  • Approximately 10 miles of high-voltage transmission to connect the solar facilities with existing transmission infrastructure.
Two of the nine project sites were awarded Envision Platinum certification from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI). All sites will be submitted for ISI certification when complete.
