We are serving as program manager for Colorado Springs Utilities’ Sustainable Energy Plan (SEP), supporting the utility’s transition from coal to a diversified portfolio of natural gas, solar and battery storage.
The SEP integrates new generation and storage with the transmission, substation and gas system upgrades required to deliver them, along with renewable interconnections and coal plant retirements.
Through the plan, Colorado Springs Utilities will:
- Reduce carbon emissions
- Increase renewable energy generation and battery energy storage systems (BESS)
- Retire coal generation and reduce reliance on fossil fuels
- Modernize the grid and integrate distributed energy resources
To execute this complex, concurrent portfolio, the utility implemented a unified management framework. Our team embedded with utility staff to provide portfolio and project management services, including controls, scheduling, cost management, procurement and contract administration, environmental and regulatory support, design review, value engineering and construction support.
The grid and resource modernization effort for electric and gas infrastructure reflects a strong relationship between our team, Colorado Springs Utilities and its stakeholders.
