BREA, California — Burns & McDonnell, the No. 1 power firm in the U.S., is strengthening its electrical transmission and distribution capabilities in California by adding four professionals experienced in implementing new technology, grid modernization, and renewable and interconnected energy solutions.

Matt Acton, Burns & McDonnell

Matt Acton

Matt Acton leads the Networks, Integration & Automation department in the firm’s California offices. He oversees a team of professionals providing consulting, engineering, strategy and operational efficiency services for technology and telecommunications projects, including grid modernization, digital transformation and information technology/operational technology convergence. With more than a decade of experience, Acton has managed a portfolio of $100 million in utility telecommunications network investments and operating budgets. He received his bachelor’s degrees in telecommunications engineering and computer science from Curtin University in Australia. Acton is a member of the Utilities Technology Council (UTC) where he recently served as the New England UTC chairman.

Milad Arouni, Burns & McDonnell

Milad Arouni

Milad Arouni has joined the firm as a project manager in California. He provides consulting and engineering services on wind, solar, energy storage and electrification projects, helping clients understand the changing power delivery markets and transition technologies and business models to the next-generation electric grid. With more than a decade of experience, Arouni has managed nearly $50 million in projects across multiple industry sectors, including renewable energy, smart grid, power generation, distributed generation and grid edge for electric vehicle manufacturers, utilities and developers. He has a master’s degree in mechanical and industrial engineering from Ryerson University and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Toronto. Arouni is a certified professional engineer, project management professional and Lean Six Sigma green belt.

Abder Elandaloussi, Burns & McDonnell

Ahbderrahmane (Abder) Elandaloussi

Promoted to the distribution modernization manager in California, Abder Elandaloussi leads projects related to modernization of the distribution grid for the utility industry. His work — which includes integrating various technologies into the grid — helps energy clients improve power reliability, efficiency and resiliency. As part of his role, he leads a Volt/VAR optimization program to help utilities achieve energy cost savings and manage voltage levels. In addition, Abder has technical experience in data analytics, optimization, distribution automation, microgrids and adaptive protection. He earned a master’s degree in electrical and power engineering from Kansas State University. Abder also holds an MBA in finance from the University of Kansas.

Marianne Goldsborough, Burns & McDonnell

Marianne Goldsborough

As a project manager in California, Marianne Goldsborough oversees design, construction and engineering services for transmission and distribution projects. Her work — which includes budgeting, scheduling, contract negotiation, procurement and construction management — helps clients deliver safe, reliable and affordable power to communities across California and North America. With more than 30 years of experience, Goldsborough has managed more than 100 projects, specializing in the electrical utility sector. In addition, she brings technical knowledge in high-voltage direct current and has technical experience in delivering complex engineering-procurement-construction projects. She earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, and an MBA, from the University of Manitoba.
