Burns & McDonnell has a proud and rich history in Canada — spanning more than 75 years — with projects successfully delivered in provinces across the country. From our earliest work on electrical and gas appraisals for Montreal, Quebec, in 1944, planning the sanitary sewer system in Regina, Saskatchewan, in the 1960s and designing a steel plant in British Columbia in 1975 to engineer-procure-construct expansion of a food manufacturing plant in Alberta in 2002 and SaskPower’s Queen Elizabeth Plant in 2015 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. We have served many key sectors across Canada.
In recent years, we have executed major critical infrastructure projects from British Columbia to Ontario in sectors ranging from electric power generation, transmission and distribution to manufacturing, food processing and mining. Long a part of helping build Canada’s industrial and utility infrastructure, we have also made a commitment to support local charitable causes, engage with area businesses and contractors, and nurture relationships with First Nations communities on many of those projects.
Showing our long-term commitment to Canadian clients we established a Canadian division in 2006, opening an official office in Calgary in 2011 and then another in Toronto in 2015. In addition, Burns & McDonnell also sets up local project offices near project sites that support local communities and businesses.
As we have executed several billion dollars’ worth of infrastructure projects across Canada, our focus has always been on client satisfaction and project safety, cost and schedule. Our Canadian clients can also access the full range of our engineering and construction services across many sectors, including power generation, electrical transmission and distribution, oil and gas, water, aviation, food and consumer products, transportation, and industrial. Our spectrum of solutions covers the planning, design, construction, program management and engineer-procure-construct delivery of all project types.
