KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Burns & McDonnell secured the No. 7 spot on the 2024 Top 500 Design Firms list by Engineering News-Record (ENR), after another record-breaking year for the firm. ENR annually ranks the nation’s leading design and construction firms, and the 100% employee-owned firm maintained the No. 7 spot for 2024. Achieving this ranking reflects the firm's dedication to delivering comprehensive and safe solutions that meet the evolving needs of its clients.
Two key drivers of growth for the firm are data centers and critical infrastructure, with AI contributing to the demand for data centers. As more infrastructure projects transition from planning to reality through the trillions of dollars of investment in the United States with IRA, IIJA and other programs, continued growth in roads, bridges, power and water is expected. In 2023, the firm produced $7.4 billion in revenue — up from $7 billion a year earlier.

Burns & McDonnell maintained its No. 1 ranking in the Power category for the ninth consecutive year. In addition, Burns & McDonnell also ranks among the top 20 firms in six other categories:
