Green Buildings

Green building practices encompass a wide range of facility features, from building materials to energy use to green roofs. When you move forward with new construction projects or facility retrofits — particularly in development of high-performance buildings — selecting the features to incorporate becomes a balancing act between efficiency gains and cost of implementation.

We have experience incorporating sustainable features into designs from the earliest concept phase through the retrofitting of older facilities with new technologies. We are committed to offering designs incorporating efficiency, maintainability and value. Our LEED accredited professionals help you take a holistic approach. As members of the U.S. Green Building Council, we promote involvement and understanding of trends and technology while tailoring our designs for facilities suitable for LEED certification. Regardless of whether certification is your goal, we will provide designs that incorporate efficiency, maintainability and value, based on evidence that incorporating sustainable design is economical as well as ecological.

Among our offerings for green buildings and high-performance facilities:

  • Energy audits: Our team develops comprehensive programs that can include an evaluation of your current energy consumption, detailed analysis of conditions, facility recommendations, turnkey execution and verified cost savings. From high-performance buildings for airport, commercial, institutional and industrial settings to power generation, water treatment and refinery facilities, we deliver planning, design and construction results that feature the optimal mix of technology, innovation and value in a way that makes sense for your business.
  • Material reuse: Whether you have used building materials that have remaining life in them or want materials that deliver sustainability benefits, we can assist with coordination and sourcing designed to reduce the volume of building materials that make their way to landfills. Regardless of your project size, our design and construction professionals collaborate with your team to meet your goals.
  • Renewables integration: Our team has experience integrating renewable power into high-performance buildings and projects of all types, from building-integrated photovoltaics to procurement of renewable power via the electric grid. We can also develop energy storage solutions or implement microgrid networks that build in redundancy and increase reliability.
  • Water conservation: Whether a campuswide application or a single building, effective landscape design can earn LEED credits as well as save on your operations budget. Our team has experience implementing stormwater systems that reduce and clean the runoff into municipal green infrastructure systems. We can also design efficient water use into your building systems.
