Meeting Fiber Backhaul Challenges
Demand for point-to-point (PtP) networks — dedicated, privately owned fiber-optic networks — has increased significantly because of their unparalleled capacity, flexibility and recurring revenue potential. We leverage strong relationships with specialists to identify and navigate regional infrastructure challenges, competing markets, and complex real estate and permitting issues. Our specialists in fiber optics work closely with our transmission and distribution groups to design, plan and construct projects using innovative methods for fiber-optic cables in both overhead and underground applications.
Our experience with communication tower builds and existing tower modifications means we can deliver the planning, engineering and implementation of complex and phased projects by providing fiber-optic capabilities to these structures. Our resumé also includes small cells, which are the preferred wireless infrastructure deployment method for wireless service providers in densely populated areas, including new 5G rollouts. Typical deployments can leverage existing power poles or other infrastructure, allowing for a near street-level antenna centerline. Our experience in radio frequency designs and fiber-optic network deployments means we can plan and execute an optimized and efficient network rollout.

Our in-house integration lab — equipped with more than 1,000 kilometers of fiber — allows us to validate and experiment with network designs to confirm functionality by mirroring your production network. By using our inventory or bringing in additional vendor equipment, we can customize a testing plan so that you are confident your system is ready for deployment and ongoing maintenance.
We also leverage our in-house optical testing specialists and equipment to provide testing and characterization of existing optical fibers, gathering the necessary data to plan a large network build-out by prioritizing the most important segments. Through our integrated engineer-procure-construct (EPC) delivery approach, you can make an efficient transition from engineering design through project construction.
