In a world that increasingly relies on digital infrastructure to power economic growth, mission-critical facilities demand unwavering performance. These specialized environments require comprehensive solutions that deliver energy efficiency, flexibility, scalability and reliability.
Why Mission-Critical Facilities Matter
From hyperscale data centers to financial and healthcare facilities, these buildings power some of life’s most important systems. Uptime is everything. These operations require systems that anticipate risk, adapt in real time and perform under pressure. For successful, timely delivery of mission-critical facilities, you need an experienced partner who understands these evolving markets, increasing power demands, and how to design and build these complex facilities and systems.
The Burns & McDonnell Advantage
Speed to market drives everything. With all disciplines in-house, our design-build approach enables seamless project delivery. We start with securing timely access to power, then apply proven strategies from our deep bench of multidisciplinary resources to deliver end-to-end solutions tailored to your needs and goals.
Today’s data demands require more than traditional infrastructure. The rise of artificial intelligence is reshaping performance expectations, requiring facilities to be more adaptive, resilient and ready to scale. We’re delivering forward-thinking design-build solutions to support emerging technologies, including liquid cooling systems engineered for energy savings and operational efficiency.
An Integrated Design-Build Team Throughout the Project Life Cycle
As an integrated design-build team experienced in all facets of capital project delivery across all critical infrastructure sectors, we bring specialized knowledge to every stage — from early planning strategies and site selection to permitting, equipment procurement and construction. Our teams are also focused on designing for long-term efficiency, reducing water and energy consumption while helping clients meet environmental goals and regulatory expectations.
With deep knowledge of local utilities, permitting processes and grid dynamics, we deliver sustainable, cost-effective solutions for reliable power — but our capabilities extend beyond on-site power generation and energy delivery. As a cross-market partner, we help integrate mission-critical facilities with the full spectrum of surrounding infrastructure, including water and wastewater systems, telecom and fiber-optic networks, transportation assets, renewable energy and electric vehicle (EV) charging. This broad experience allows us to align project delivery with regional utility coordination and long-term community planning, building resilience into every layer of your facility while streamlining development and lowering lifecycle costs.
Whether designing within dense urban environments or remote, utility-constrained sites, we partner with you to help create mission-critical facilities that operate reliably and contribute meaningfully to your community.
